Smoking, ask your penis about it!

I found this interesting picture somewhere in the web yesterday.  I admit it’s hard to get the meaning at first, but then I realized that the picture brought an important message.  Did any of you ever know that smoking have a relationship with your penis? Heheheh..interesting right?

In 1999 British Medical Association (BMA) and the anti-tobacco group has sent a report about the relationship between smoking and erectile dysfunction.  The report said that approximately 120,000 men in Britain are impotent as a direct result of their tobacco smoking habit.  “Poor British man…” is that what you’re thinking?  Don’t be too happy about it.

Well it’s not as straight as saying that “if you smoke then you are impotent” though.  But scientific research has shown that smoking does have a significant association with erectile dysfunction.  BMA reports even said that smoking is associated with 50% increase risk of suffering erectile dysfunction for men. The damage smoking causes is cumulative, which mean the longer you are exposed with smoking the higher risk of suffering erectile dysfunction you get.

The reason for these findings mainly is because smoking causes a buildup of fatty deposits in delicate blood vessels.  Fatty deposit, in case it block the blood flow to the heart can cause a heart disease.  But in case the blood flow to your penis is the one that being blocked, then erectile dysfunction will raise as the result.  Aside from it, nicotine which is one of the main components of cigarette can cause rapid contraction in penile tissue or damage a valve that traps blood in the penis which will result eventually in erectile dysfunction.

So no wonder if in some country there’s a rule to apply a warning in the cigarette box and in the cigarette ads that stated:

“WARNING: SMOKING CAUSES MALE SEXUAL IMPOTENCE

 WARNING: SMOKING DAMAGES SPERM

WARNING: SMOKING MAY DAMAGE YOUR SEX-LIFE”

It’s a controversial issue of course.  Many smokers will deny this issue and say I smoke a lot and I’m still the tough guy on bed.  Well my friend, you have the right to believe or disbelieve this information.  But remember again, smoking effect are cumulative, you might not feel it today but you will someday in the future.  So does it worth taking risk?

So quit smoking, don’t just thinking with your brain but also think with your penis emoticon  cheers!

Environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) is the amount of smoke that actually released by a smoker to his/her environment.  Scientifically it is estimated that 90% of smoke created by a smoker is becoming ETS.  So of all the dangerous chemicals contained within the cigarette smoke, the smoker only took 10% for himself.  This means if you standing around a smoking person then you have the chance to get as much of those chemicals as or even more than that smoking person him/herself.

According to CDC, ETS can become a cause of many adverse health effect to those who are exposed with it.  Below is the list of those effect:

  • ETS exposure causes heart disease and lung cancer in non smoking adults.
  • Nonsmokers who are exposed ETS at home or work will have increased risk of having heart disease by 25–30% and increased risk of having lung cancer by 20–30%.
  • Breathing ETS has immediate harmful effects on the cardiovascular system, with increased risk of having a heart attack as the result.  The risk is even higher to people who already have a heart disease.
There is no risk-free level of ETS exposure. Even brief exposure can be dangerous.

Children gain an even  bigger threat, especially when they live with a smoking parents. According to WHO data, environmental tobacco smoke exposure can bring severe effect on children.  Those effects are:

  • Increased risk of  lower respiratory tract illnesses, such as bronchitis and pneumonia in the first year of life.
  • Causing chronic respiratory symptoms in school aged children.
  • Increases the severity and frequency of symptoms in children with asthma.
  • Increasing the risk of having acute and chronic middle ear disease.
  • It’s associated with learning difficulties, behavioral problems, and language impairment in the children with smoking parents.
  • ETS is associated with physiological changes in children that may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Unfortunately there are many children who are exposed with ETS, in fact almost half of the world’s children are regurarly exposed to ETS.  And your children can be one of them!

So for you my friend who smoke, quit smoking is not only about saving yourself.  Quit smoking is not just about preventing you from illnesses.  Quit smoking is about caring other people.  SO if you are a smoking parent, then quit because you care with your children.  If you are a smoking husband/wife, then quit because you care with your beloved soulmate.  If you are a smoking teacher, then quit  because you care with your student.  And if you are just simply a smoking person, then quit because you care with other people who live around you.

Happy handwashing time…

We’ve been talking about the importance handwashing and the correct technique of handwashing.  So now the question is how long should we wash our hands to get an optimum result of hand washing?  Well, scientifically it is recommended to wash your hands in a minimum time of 10 second.  and In case of teaching your children, you can teach your children to sing happy birthday song twice while washing their hands.

so the sequence of hand washing would be like this:

Wet your hands with flowing water, and apply hand soap to your palm.

Now let’s start singing

" Happy birthday to you"                                 "happy birthday to you"

"Happy birthday"            "happy birthday"          "Happy birthday to you…."

Then here we go again…….

"Happy birthday to you"                                  "happy birthday to you"

"happy birthday"            "happy birth day"         "happy birthday to you…."

Now rinse your hands with flowing water.

Take a clean towel/hand tissue to dry it.

and don’t forget, use the tissue/towel to switch the water off.

Smoking, to get and to give

We’ve been talking about how much smoking cost you on a monetary basis. Now let see what you can get and what you can give from smoking.

  • What you get

It has been scientifically identified that tobacco smoke contains more than 4000 chemicals.  Among those at least 400 are poisonous and more than 50 are the cause of cancer.  Basically tobacco smoke has three main components.  Those components are:

Tar

Tar is a black sticky residue which usually produced from coal as a byproduct of coke production, petroleum, peat or wood.  Normally it is used for covering the road surfaces. Yes, ROAD SURFACES. It can clog in your lungs and predisposed you with the risk of having a lung cancer.

Nicotine

It is a powerful and addictive drug.  Nicotine is a stimulant, which means it will give you the feeling of energized.  It can make you feel fresh and spirit full in doing your daily activity.  It makes your heart rate and blood pressure rises and increases the diameter of the blood vessel.  This is actually the reason why it is difficult for a smoking person to quit smoking.  Yet do remember that in the end it will also predisposed you for having a heart attack or a stroke.

Carbon Monoxide

It’s a gas, the same gas with what you found in the car exhaust smoke.  When entering you body, carbon monoxide will rob the oxygen for your muscles, brain and body tissue making your heart work even harder.  Over time it will also swell up your airways and let less air to enter your lung.  So no wonder a heavy and chronic smoker usually suffer from short of breath and lack of stamina.

Now you see what you actually get when you smoke a cigarette.  Is it bad? Well if you think so there’s an even worse fact you should know.

  • What you give

Smoking not only mean you to get “things” but it also mean you have a big chance to give.

Of all the smoke you make when smoking, you only take about 10% to your body.  The 90% goes away to your surrounding as an environmental tobacco smoke (ETS).  In other word the one who get the most tar, nicotine, and carbon monoxide is actually the people around you.

ETS could,

causes lung cancer in people who have never smoked before.

causes heart attack, especially among the spouses of smokers. ETS also increases the risk of repeated heart attacks if one has suffered from heart attack before.

increases the risk of heart disease, lung disease, asthma, allergies, sinus problems, blood vessel disease or worsen the symptoms if one is already suffering from these.

You could be glad and thankful for this fact.  Yet bear in mind that the term “people around you” could also mean “your children”, “your spouse”, “your parents”, or in a single term “your beloved one”.

So quit smoking is not only about caring yourselves, but for most it is about caring people you loved around you.

Quit smoking by christmas, will you be the one?

Have a new idea to show you how valuable is to quit smoking. Just follow the steps below, and will check the result on christmas.

First of all, make a preparation as shown below:

  • Get an empty pack of cigarette, the one that can still be used.
  • Get a picture of someone you really care about, someone most precious for you.  It can be your father or mother, your beloved soul mate, your cute little angel, or even just simply yourself.
  • Attached the picture on the empty cigarette pack.

Second, after the preparation is complete, you do these steps:

  • Bring the cigarette pack wherever you go.  Make sure you always have it in your pocket.
  • When you are going to buy a cigarette, take the pack out of your pocket and see that lovely pictures.  Then say "I want to give my angel a little surprise".
  • After that, instead of buying cigarette, put the money that you want to use for buying cigarette inside the empty pack.
  • Put the pack back to your pocket.
  • Do exactly the same thing every time you are going to buy a cigarette.

Now on December 23rd, you can open the pack and I’ll give you the next step….

FIGHT AIDS FOR GOOD

There are an estimated 33 million people with AIDS worldwide. AIDS has become a universal health problem. It affects every country, city, and town in the world. And, the most frightening thing about it is that is going largely unchecked and the trend is continue to rises.

Half of all AIDS cases involve people 13 -24 years, even worse it also put their children in the highest risk group for having AIDS.  AIDS has taken away the futures from many people.  People who supposed to be enjoying their live and building their dreams.  Those who have been taken by AIDS not  only could’ve been a doctor, a nurse, an engineer, a pilot, a president, a scientist, a cook, an astronaut, a soldier someday in the future but also they are surely a son, a brother, a sister,a husband, a wife, a father, or a mother to some of us.

To stand a fight against AIDS is everyone responsibility.  We can not leave it to the government or some great people up there.  It all start from us, the future is depend on each and everyone of us.

How do AIDS spread?

Mainly AIDS spread through sexual contact, blood transfusion, or contact with bodily fluid (for medical provider), but the trend right now is it spread through needle use among drugs addict.  Unlike flu or any other contagious disease that will show their manifestation in a short time, AIDS takes years before you actually realized that you are infected with it.

How to prevent the spread?

There are several things we can do to prevent the AIDS spread.

  • Have a SAFE,SAFE,SAFE,SAFE SEX. AIDS spread through sexual intercourse, and as we know we all did sexual intercourse in our life.  Well some people don’t, but they’re just a small number.  So have a safe sex, be loyal with a single sexual partner or just simply use condom.
  • Use UNIVERSAL PRECAUTION when dealing with people bodily fluid.  Especially if you are a medical person or laboratory personnel.  Hand gloves is a must and beware of sharp object like syringe needle.
  • Stay away from drugs, and even if you can’t, be selfish with your equipment.  If you just can’t stop using drugs then make sure you use needle only for yourself.  Don’t use a second hand needle and don’t let others use your needle.  Kind a hard stuff to do though, cause you can not think that much when you’re high.  So the best way is STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS, it give you nothing but a disaster.

Should we avoid people with AIDS?

Definitely NO.  Those people are just as human as we do.  AIDS don’t take away their humanity, so treat them just as you treat others.  Bear in mind that we fight AIDS not people with AIDS.

SO IT ALL START FROM US, IT ALL START NOW.

STAND UP AGAINST AIDS FOR A BETTER FUTURE IN OUR LIVE.

Do you wash your hands properly?

Ok, we’ve talk about the importance of handwashing before.  We already knew that hand washing is the simplest and cheapest way to avoid us from being infested by various germs.  Now I’ll show you the technique of handwashing that will ensure you to get the maximum result of washing your hands.  Take a look at the picture below.

I guess the picture is quite simple and easy to understand.  All I have to do now is just underline step number 3 and number 6.

Good hand washing must include washing all parts of your hands.  Not merely rubbing the soap to your palm and back of your hands but also the area between your finger and under  the fingernail. These are two hidden area that often forget by us.  Then, after drying your hands with either hand towel or drying machine use the towel or clean tissue to turn off the taps.  Don’t touch the tap directly with your clean hands, remember just a minute before you’ve just touch it by your dirty hands.

So be healthy, wash your hands regularly and properly.

Smoking = wasting money?

Do you agree if someone say smoking is a sort of wasting money?

Well, some people would agree and of course some people would not.  Whichever part you belong to I’m sure you have a good and reasonable argumentation regarding your answer.  I, myself, belong to the part that’s agreed with the statement.  Let me show you why I think smoking is such a wasting money.

First, I make a brief calculation to estimate how much money does someone spent to smoke within a month.  In my country, one piece of cigarette cost you around Rp 500,-.  If we convert it to US dollar it’s around $ 0.05. If you smoke one cigarette daily, then in a week you will spend:

7 x $ 0.05  = $ 0.35

And within a month it will be;

4 x $ 0.35  = $ 1.4

Well, I don’t think there would be many people who will consider $ 1.4 for a month is expensive.  But it’s a fact that a smoker is almost impossible to smoke only one cigarette in a day.  Average smoker smoke at least half pack of cigarette a day, some are even much more.  In my country, a pack of cigarette usually contains 12 piece of it.  So a half pack would be six pieces of cigarette.  Then the actual spending of a smoker is approximately

6 x $ 1.4  = $ 8.4

So a smoker would spend $ 8.4 a month at the very least just to buy cigarette.  And for you, what is the meaning of $ 8.4?

Now I want you to look at these pictures.

Do you think $ 8.4 also “no big deal” to them? I don’t think so.  For them $ 8.4 could mean a better food, a proper dresses, a more comfortable place to live in, or a warmer place to sleep at night.  For you $ 8.4 might only mean a crap, but for them it surely means life. You will never imagine how much difference $ 8.4 could bring to them.

What we do all these days when we are smoking is actually burning out all of that money.  We change them with ashes and smoke.  We change the $ 8.4 for some possibility of getting cancer or pulmonary disease. So instead of giving better life those money brought nothing but a brief pleasure and a last long  suffering, not only for you but also your surroundings.

SO, DOES SMOKING REALLY MEAN WASTING YOUR MONEY?
